20.03.2019 / Bulgaria will import 640 tons of saffron bulbs into China in the next 3 years
Tripartite agreement between the Association for the Promotion of Agricultural Cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European Countries (APACCCEEC), the Bulgarian National Association of Saffron and Organic Saffron Producers, and Zhejiang Yangtian for Agriculture, Science and Technology Co. Ltd. was signed today in Hangzhou, Xiaoshan District, China.
The Executive Director of APACCCEEC Vasil Gelev, Hasan Tahirov, Chairman of the Bulgarian National Association of Saffron and Organic Saffron Products, and Zhu Hanlian, Chairman of the Chinese company, signed an agreement with a 3-year (2019-2021) implementation plan. The countries agreed in 2019 from Bulgaria to China to export 40 tons of saffron bulbs, for the next year – 200 tons, and in 2021 – 400 tons. The total value of the saffron bulbs to be exported to the PRC amounts to EUR 6.5 million. The signing ceremony was attended by Fan Jun, Deputy Mayor of Xiaoshan District, the management of the Agricultural University of Plovdiv, and scholars from Zhejiang University.
On March 18, an Academic Forum was organized in Hangzhou, organized by APACCCEEC, at which professors from Zhejiang University exchanged experience with their colleagues from the Agricultural University – Plovdiv and the chairman of the Bulgarian National Association of Saffron and Organic Saffron Products. Cooperation projects between the two universities in the field of silkworms, the saffron industry, e-commerce and the establishment of joint laboratories for improving food safety and exchange of students were discussed.
The tripartite agreement signed in China on March 20, 2019 is a result of the Cooperation Agreement in the field of the saffron industry between APACCCEEC and Zhejiang Yangtian Agricultural, Science and Technology Co., Ltd. On October 31, the two sides agreed to work to promote cooperation and information exchange, to promote agriculture, science and technology, trade, tourism and cultural exchange in the saffron industry.
