17.10.2023 / Meeting with delegation from Sichuan was held on 17th October in Burgas

The APACCCEEC`s Director had a meeting with representatives from the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce and the Deyang International Railway Logistics Port Management Committee. The meeting took place at the premises of the Burgas Chamber of Commerce and Industry on October 17th.
The Sichuan delegation members were as follows: Mr. Wu Ge – Member of the Party Leadership Group, Full-time Deputy Director of Sichuan Free Trade Office, Mrs. Liao Xiyan – Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce Director of Coordination Division, Mr. Liu Wenwei – Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce Deputy Director of Innovation Division, and Mr. Wang Xiaowu – Deyang International Railway Logistics Port Management Committee Director.
The possibilities for bilateral investment, through the creation of a network of contacts and regular meetings of Chinese, Bulgarian and European companies were discussed.
In the discussion, Dr. Momchil Stanishev presented an official statistics of the bilateral trade between China and Bulgaria, pointing out the fact that in the period January-May 2023 the value of Bulgarian agricultural goods exported to China increased more than three times on an annual basis. Agricultural imports from China have also seen a serious increase of more than two times. He also noted that the trade balance for Bulgaria within the first months of 2023 reached USD 191.6 million, which is 42.2 million USD higher a year earlier.
Dr. Stanishev presented the main activities of the Association as a coordinator in the field of agriculture between China and the CEE countries, adding that through exhibitions, seminars and bilateral and multilateral meetings, communication and connectivity between institutions and businesses is improved. He pointed out that earlier this year APACCCEEC participated in the large exhibition in Ningbo, China with its own Pavilion, where CEE companies were exhibitors.
Mr. Todor Demirkov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Burgas Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted that by partnering with the Chamber, Chinese companies will be able to enter the Bulgarian market easily, as the Chamber has over 110 active members, among them are Burgas Airport, Burgas Port, Burgas Free University and others.
Mr. Wu Gu invited the Director of APACCCEEC to visit Sichuan province together with companies from CEE and Bulgaria to create fruitful partnership bridges with local companies. Dr. Stanishev thanked for the invitation and he also proposed signing a Memorandum of Cooperation between the APACCCEEC and the Sichuan Trade Office in the near future.
