On May 30, Croatia celebrates Statehood Day (Dan državnosti).

On this day, 34 years ago, the first Croatian democratic multi-party parliament was formed. This parliament served for two years and built the foundations of modern Croatia, declaring the country’s independence on June 25, 1991.

The day is usually celebrated outdoors and is marked by family reunions, flag-raising and national anthem-playing ceremonies.
