30.10.2025 / APACCCEEC organized side events during the International Scientific Conference of Agricultural University – Plovdiv

On 29 and 30 October, 2025, APACCCEEC conducted two side events, part of the International Scientific Conference “Traditions meet innovations”, organized on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Agricultural University – Plovdiv.

The first event “Tea ceremony and Presentation: Introduction to the Practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine” was held on October 29, 2025 in the Demonstration Zone of APACCCEEC in Agricultural University – Plovdiv. The event was led by Mr. Anton Agov, Chairman of Bulgarian-Chinese Association for Traditional Chinese Medicinal Culture and Mr. Kiril Dimitrov, student of Chinese tea ceremony.

Mr. Agov presented a brief history of traditional Chinese medicine, including it’s connection with Daoism, Confucianism and Budism, it’s role in modern China, and the practices beyond the Chinese borders. Visitors to the event learned about the five elements in traditional Chinese medicine and how they interact in the human body.

Mr. Kiril Dimitrov demonstrated the ritualized practice of preparing and serving tea. The ceremony is deeply connected to Chinese philosophy, especially the concept of harmony between yin and yang. Visitors tasted different types of tea and herbs traditionally used in Chinese culture.

On October 30, 2025, a workshop on calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting was held at Luban Workshop in Agricultural University – Plovdiv, led by Ms. Li Shuqing, a first-year doctorate student in the National Academy of Arts in Sofia.

Li Shuqing briefly explained the history of Chinese calligraphy and demonstrated some basic techniques in this ancient art. Particular attention was paid to the four basic elements of calligraphy – the brush, paper, ink and inkstone.

Participants in the event had the opportunity to test their skills by drawing Chinese characters for words such as: “tree”, “forest”, “love”, “mountain”.

The events were visited by participants and guests in the International Scientific Conference “Traditions meet Innovations”, including representatives from Lebanon, Italy, France and others, as well as lecturers from Agricultural University – Plovdiv.
