In the period 18 – 20 November 2024, Dr. Momchil Stanishev, Director of APACCCEEC and experts Mr. Zahari Zahariev and Mr. Viktor Gadzhalov visited the city of Plovdiv to promote the upcoming third edition of the Academy for Entrepreneurship in Agriculture, which will be held at the Agricultural University – Plovdiv from 10 to 13 December 2024.

In the Demonstration Zone of Agricultural Cooperation between China and the CEE Countries at the Agricultural University – Plovdiv, the APACCCEEC held another screening within its project “CineClub”.

The four parts of the movie “Tea Lands of China” was broadcast. It was about the story of two Americans from California, who traveled all the way to the Chinese province of Yunnan to explore the process of growing tea plants and tea production in China – the birthplace of the popular beverage. The movie explained the great importance of tea for Chinese culture in both past and present.

The film screenings are held with the aim of familiarizing students, teachers and the wide audience in the city of Plovdiv with films on agricultural topics, wine production, cooking, including film productions from Bulgaria, China and the CEE countries. Those productions present to the audience the culture and traditions of each country within the China-CEE Cooperation Initiative.

On the same day, at Cat and Mouse Co-working Space, APACCCEEC held the event ‘Discussion: Startups and Agriculture‘. In informal setting, the participants discussed current challenges for startups in agriculture, the European programmes, projects and funding, as well as the opportunities for business with China. The discussion was attended by Mr. Angel Angelov, Secretary General of the Valley of Deep Tech Innovations – Plovdiv; Ms. Nadya Valeva, President of the European Fashion Council; students from Agricultural University – Plovdiv and representatives of startups and business in Plovdiv region. Moreover, the current projects of APACCCEEC (the Accelerator Program for start-ups in the field of agriculture between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the Academy for Entrepreneurship in Agriculture) were presented during the discussion.

The upcoming edition of the Academy for Entrepreneurship in Agriculture in Plovdiv was also the focus of a meeting between Dr. Momchil Stanishev, Director of APACCCEEC and Mr. Stanimir Stefanov, agronomist and expert at the National Agricultural Advisory Service (NAAS) – Plovdiv. During the meeting, the opportunities for cooperation between APACCCEEC and NAAS – Plovdiv for promoting the upcoming Academy were discussed.
