08.06.2020 / Demonstration Zone of Agricultural Cooperation between China and the CEE Countries
ACTIVE PROJECT
The high-efficiency modern agricultural demonstration zone is a new development mode of Chinese agriculture, and plays a very important role in promoting agricultural development. The “Demonstration Zone of Agricultural Cooperation between China and the CEE Countries” is a project for agricultural technology cooperation between China and the CEE countries.
During the 7th Summit of Heads of Governments of China and CEE Countries in July 2018 in Sofia, Bulgaria the “Demonstration Zone of Agricultural Cooperation between China and the CEE Countries” was officially launched by the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and the Bulgarian Prime Minister Borisov.
The demonstration zone is located on the campus of Agricultural University – Plovdiv, covering an area of 200 decares, and was officially inaugurated on February 21, 2019. The initial concept of the project was to create opportunities for young people from China and CEE countries to develop e-commerce through an electronic platform (www.16plus1cloud.org) established by the Center in 2018. This platform was designed to consolidate agricultural and other producers from China and CEEC, functioning as a digital product warehouse.
At the time of its establishment, this was the first Demonstration Center for E-Commerce in Agricultural and Other Products, aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs. The project seeks to engage students from China and Central and Eastern European countries, enabling them to collaborate in securing real business transactions with one another. In doing so, it enhances opportunities to foster multilateral cooperation between China and CEE.
Over the years, the scope of activities at the Demonstration Zone has evolved, and it is no longer focused on e-commerce. Nevertheless, the project remains dedicated to developing the skills of young entrepreneurs. As a result, the Demonstration Zone is currently used to host various events, seminars, and training programs in the fields of agriculture, start-ups, digitalization in the sector, and other relevant areas. Notable events held in the zone include the “Digitalization and Entrepreneurship in Agriculture” Forum in April 2024 and the third edition of the Academy for Entrepreneurship in Agriculture in December 2024.
In addition, APACCCEEC has launched film screenings aimed at introducing the general public in Plovdiv to films on agricultural themes, wine production, and culinary. These include films from Bulgaria, China, and the CEE countries, showcasing agricultural practices and unique features of each country. Information about each upcoming screening is publicly available on APACCCEEC’s official communication channels, including website and social media profiles.
