Recently, Karel Pavlíček, a commentator on the Czech website ac24.cz, gave an interview to the Chinese Media Group, in which he said that economic and trade exchanges between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe are increasing, despite the downward trend in the world economy, reports China Radio International.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has paralyzed the international investment activity. However, two-way investment between China and CEE countries has increased. They affect the areas of automotive parts production, the chemical industry, household appliances, logistics, mining and others. The low-carbon industry, pharmaceuticals, new energy sources are a priority in investments,” Pavlíček explained.
In 2020, Chinese companies concluded $ 5.4 billion in infrastructure transactions with CEE countries, an increase of 34.6% year-on-year. Data from the e-commerce platform DHgate shows that since April 2020, sales of Chinese home appliances to CEE countries through this platform have increased 300 times. Products imported from some CEE countries to China are enjoying increased interest among Chinese consumers.
