On July 7th, a bilateral meeting was held between representatives of the Association for the Promotion of Agricultural Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries and the Chinese Cultural Center in Sofia.

During the meeting, the possibilities for strengthening cooperation in the field of agriculture, trade relations, cultural and educational exchange between the CEE countries and China were discussed.

Dr. Momchil Stanishev, Director of APACCCEEC, introduced the guests to the activities, the current initiatives and programs that are planned to be implemented by the end of the year. On focus was the upcoming International Scientific-Practical Conference „10 years Initiative “16 + 1″. Cooperation, Exchange and Connectivity between China and CEE Countries”, which will be held on November 4th and 5th in Sofia. Mr. Hong Hai, Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Sofia, confirmed the interest of the Chinese side towards the Conference, and expressed a desire to participate in the section dedicated to educational and cultural exchange between the countries.

The possibilities for the implementation of culinary projects and a festival in this direction, as well as the development of wine tourism in Bulgaria and the region, which would be of interest to the Chinese tourist, were also discussed.

The meeting was attended also by Mr. Michael Chen, Chairman of the Balkan Trade and Investment Chamber, with whom the prospects for young entrepreneurs from Bulgaria and China in the field of agriculture and e-commerce were discussed.

Mr. Hong Hai, who is also the Chief Representative of the city of Ningbo for Bulgaria, presented the opportunities for trade with various agricultural goods, food and beverages, as well as electronics. New ideas for improving trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and China were discussed, and the possibility of organizing a business delegation from the agriculture sector, which could visit the city of Ningbo, was also considered.

The parties confirmed their desire to increase the frequency of bilateral webinars, B2B forums and to strengthen deeper the cultural ties within the framework of the 16+1 Initiative.
