Introduced on 1 January 2019 the new regulations for products, subject to traditional bilateral trade with the PRC, will be able to be traded with end-users in China through the means of e-commerce retail and without a complete procedure. This does not mean a lack of quality control and food safety from the Chinese side.

In March 2019, APACCCEEC will receive additional instructions from the Chinese side, and at the end of the same month the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) will hold a forum in which the Association will announce the Chinese Government’s regulatory measures in the field of e-commerce. Then will be officially launched the initiative of APACCCEEC “Platform for Consolidation of Agricultural Producers from China and the CEE countries”.

Producers from Bulgaria and the Central and Eastern European countries are already interested in what kind of documents China requires for the import of agricultural and other products. However, the distinction between different types of trade is particularly important. Bulgaria has started 29 bilateral procedures with China to import agricultural products that could carry disease-causing infections. Six are finalized with signed protocols between the two countries, namely maize, alfalfa, fish and fishery products, milk and dairy products, combined plant-based feed and feed additives, bleached sunflower seeds, sunflower meal.

Most of the food products that have undergone heat treatment are exported and traded on the Chinese market according to world trade practices. The quality control body for agricultural products in Bulgaria is the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA), whose experts provide specific information upon request.
