The capital of the People’s Republic of China – Beijing can provide good conditions for presentation of Bulgarian agricultural and food products. This was made clear during a meeting between Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Assoc. Prof. Georgi Kostov and Beijing Deputy Mayor Lin Keqing, who is visiting Bulgaria. The two discussed the possibility of presenting Bulgarian products in Beijing, as well as setting up a demonstration center in Bulgaria to present successful agricultural business models with China and attract Chinese investors.

“The Ministry’s team will provide a suitable agricultural area in a communicative place in the country, close to large agricultural production areas, for the creation of such a center,” said Deputy Minister Kostov. He informs that the facility will be located on an area of ​​over 1000 hectares and is expected to start operation in 2017. “In addition to presenting well-known products such as rose oil, Bulgarian wine, dairy products, fruits and vegetables, the cooperation will thematic conferences can also be organized for interested business delegations from China. Other Central and Eastern European countries participating in the 16+1 format will also be able to represent themselves”, Deputy Minister Kostov added. According to him, it is extremely important for Bulgaria to assume the role of a leading country in the region in relations with China.

For his part, Lin Keqing said that there is a serious potential for developing relations between Beijing Municipality and Bulgaria. He expressed readiness to provide good and preferential conditions for presentation of Bulgarian goods in Beijing. “This could be another front door for products made in Bulgaria to China”, the Deputy Mayor said. He added that Beijing Municipality also has a serious resource for scientific exchange with Bulgarian institutes in the field of agriculture.

The Director of APACCCEEC Vasil Gelev informed that in the short time since its establishment, the Association has been showing concrete results in cooperation in the 16+1 format. He recalled that at the end of the past year our country opened its pavilion in the Free Trade Zone of Hangzhou City. “Such a national pavilion of Bulgaria is to be opened in the Pilot Free Trade Zone in Shanghai as well”, Vasil Gelev said. He expressed the hope that opening a pavilion in Beijing would increase opportunities for expansion of the Bulgarian agricultural and food market in China.

Deputy Mayor Lin Keqing also invited Bulgaria to take part in the International Gardening Exhibition, which Beijing will host in 2019. He informed that the forum will last 160 days and this would allow our country to show a wide audience your achievements in this field. Deputy Minister Georgi Kostov assured that Bulgaria would perform well at the exhibition because it has many years of extensive experience in gardening.
