/ APACCCEEC Holds a Meeting with the China Feed Industry Association

On October 2, 2025, Dr. Momchil Stanishev, Director of APACCCEEC, held a meeting with representatives of the China Feed Industry Association: Mr. Qin Yuchang, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Association, and Ms. Fan Lihui, Head of the International Cooperation Department. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Elena Tsvetanova, Chairwoman of the Bulgarian Feed Manufacturers’ Association (BFMA), and Zooengineer Penka Maneva-Kaneva, Secretary of BFMA.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Director of APACCCEEC presented the current events and activities of the Association, including the official inauguration of the new Liaison Office and Permanent Pavilion of APACCCEEC in the Chinese city of Ningbo on May 22, 2025, the International Conference held in June 2025 on the occasion of the Association’s 10th anniversary, as well as the active participation in international exhibitions in CEE countries and China. Dr. Stanishev also highlighted initiatives supporting youth entrepreneurship, such as the Academy for Entrepreneurship in Agriculture and the Accelerator Program for start-ups in the field of agriculture between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Dr. Stanishev also presented the Association’ s role as a co-founder of the China-CEEC Modern Agricultural Science and Education Innovation Alliance, established in October 2024. The Alliance is an international, multilateral, non-profit cooperation platform founded by 65 members, including agricultural universities, research institutes, and enterprises from China and the CEE countries.

Ms. Fan Lihui from the China Feed Industry Association presented the structure and main activities of the Association. Established in 1985, it is a member of the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF), which brings together leading organizations in the sector from various countries and regions.

During the meeting, the guests from China shared an overview of the Chinese feed sector. Over the years, production levels in the sector have fluctuated, but overall they followed an upward trend. In 2024, the value of China’s feed industry output exceeded 1262 billion yuan, although it marked a decline compared to the previous year. Рroduction volume for the year totaled over 315 million tons. The presentation also provided data about the historical development of China’s feed industry, major feed sector products, Chinese standards in the industry, as well as future trends in the sector.

Ms. Fan Lihui presented a key component of the Association’s activities – the organization of the China Feed Industry Expo, held every April in different Chinese cities and attracting international participation. She shared data from the latest edition of the Expo, which took place from April 18 to 20, 2025, in the city of Qingdao.

The representatives of the Bulgarian Feed Manufacturers’ Association (BFMA) presented the history and activities of the organization, which has been operating for 35 years. BFMA brings together companies in areas such as compound feed production, feed meal, premixes, feed additives, and pet food. The Association organizes an annual conference featuring speakers from Bulgaria and abroad. This year’s conference will be held in October. BFMA also coordinates participations in trade fairs and is the issuer of a magazine dedicated to the feed industry.

During the meeting, the Chinese guests were provided with information about the Bulgarian feed industry and production, Bulgaria’s exports of feed and feed raw materials, as well as the trends in the sector. Dr. Momchil Stanishev also presented key research organizations and universities involved in feed-related research. It was emphasized that Bulgaria offers a favorable investment environment, and some Chinese enterprises have already invested in the Bulgarian agricultural sector.

After the meeting, the representatives of both associations visited the demonstration area with food and beverage samples from the CEE region, located at the office of APACCCEEC in Sofia.
