On November 16-17, the Association for the Promotion of Agricultural Cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European Countries (APACCCEEC) took part in a business delegation to Serbia, organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Belgrade, which visited Pirot, Niš, and Bosilegrad.
On the first day, the Free Zone Pirot was visited, which has an established transport infrastructure that allows the passage of trucks and trailers. Customs service is carried out on the territory of the complex, which contributes to fast document processing. Mr. Zoran Petrovic, Executive Director of Free Zone Pirot, presented the opportunities for companies to enter the Serbian market to the Bulgarian delegation, assuring that Free Zone Pirot is one of the best developed in the country. Over 6,000 people work in the complex. Companies located in the Zone are exempt from value-added tax on their products.
The business delegation also visited the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Niš. Participants in the bilateral business forum in the city of Niš were Mr. Milovan Kocic, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar Milicevic, Director of the Regional Chamber of Commerce – Niš, H.E. Mr. Petko Doykov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria in Belgrade, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and representatives of the Serbian and Bulgarian business circles.
The forum continued with bilateral meetings, as Dr. Momchil Stanishev, Director of the APACCCEEC, held meetings with Serbian business, including and with representatives of the Science and Technology Park Niš, where opportunities for cooperation regarding the creation of favorable relations between innovative start-up enterprises from Bulgaria and Serbia were discussed, which would help to bring the entrepreneurial ecosystems of both countries closer together.
The Association’s team got acquainted with the work processes of the Science and Technology Park Niš, as well as with start-up companies in the field of agriculture, on which were presented the current opportunities for joint work and cooperation. Representatives from the Science and Technology Park Niš showed electro technical museum exhibits from the recent past to the Bulgarian delegation and gave a historical presentation of the park and the potential opportunities that are open to the business.
The next day, the town of Bosilegrad was visited, in which a business forum was held, where Bulgarian companies had the opportunity to discuss trade opportunities in bilateral meetings with Serbian partners. The meeting was opened by Mr. Vladimir Zahariev, Mayor of the Municipality of Bosilegrad, who expressed his satisfaction that after times of pandemic, a Bulgarian business delegation was able to visit the city again and discuss solutions for the real sector. The Director of the APACCCEEC explained to the local business the opportunities for direct contact and potential cooperation with partners from Central and Eastern Europe and China, through the regular webinars organized by the Association.
