04.05.2022 / Agricultural trade between China and Central and Eastern Europe in February 2022

According to the Chinese customs, the total value of agricultural and food products between China and the Central and Eastern European countries was 79 million euros in February, a decrease of 3% compared to the same period last year. The Chinese exports of agriproducts increased by 25.8%, while China’s imports decreased by 31.8%.

Aquatic products, chemically modified fats and oils, and nicotine-containing smoking products were the main exported agriproducts from China. It should be noted that the latter has not been exported last year but in 2022 It has totaled nearly 5 million euros.

Meanwhile, the main exports of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe were dairy products, sunflower seed, and beef. While the export of dairy products was down by 46.8%, the export of beef to China increased by nearly 500%.

Poland, Bulgaria, and Romania were China’s main CEE partners in the agricultural trade.  They amounted to 28.7 million euros (decrease of 7.1%), 9.5 million euros (increase of 76.4%), and 7.8 million euros (decrease of 9.5%) respectively. The three countries combined accounted for 57.9 % of the total trade of agriproducts between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
