The Czech Republic is a landlocked country in Central Europe bordered by Germany to the west, Austria to the south, Slovakia to the east and Poland to the northeast. The capital and largest city, Prague, has over 1.2 million residents.
The Czech Republic is a developed country with an advanced, high income economy and high living standards. The UNDP ranks the country 15th in inequality-adjusted human development. The Czech Republic also ranks as the 10th most peaceful country, while achieving strong performance in democratic governance. It is a member of the European Union, the OECD, the OSCE, and the Council of Europe.
Agricultural entrepreneurs now farm around 4264 thousand hectares of agricultural land in the Czech Republic, around half (54 %) of the total area of the country. There is 0.42 hectares of agricultural land per one member of the population of the country. Most agricultural land is now owned by natural persons and legal entities.
Agricultural production and the food production are one of the traditional industries of the national economy. Commodities such as milk, livestock, grain, sugar and malt have long asserted themselves as agricultural exports.
